Shanghai 2022 – The WorldSkill World Championship!

Promote skilled workers. Increase performance!

Preparations for World Championships are going very well.

Rambaldini Welding Services Ltd are proud to be a Buse Gas agent and greatly appreciate their help with supplying gas for the training weeks held in preparation for the upcoming WorldSkills competition in Shanghai.

Born after the Second World War in 1950, the WorldSkills competition was put together to inspire and introduce young people into vocational skills. Since then to competition has grown to over 50 countries and over 1000 competitors fighting it out to be crowned ‘best in the world’. The core fundamentals of the competition are, and have always been, to raise the profile and recognition of skilled people and show how important skills are in achieving economic growth, personal success and career goals; elements which we know are paramount, even to this day.

2 candidates enter the race for Rambaldini Welding!

As an ex-competitor representing the UK in 2011 for Welding, I’ve had the pleasure of working with many skilled welders helping them develop not only their practical skills but seek their own personal goals and achievements. The 46th WorldSkills competition which will be held in Shanghai this October has had its challenges due to COVID but I’m happy that we have two potential candidates ready to take on competition later this year; Joel Blair from Rhyal Engineering, Pembrokeshire and Will Hunt from Rolls Royce, Derby.

Both competitors have battled it through the UK’s national SkillWeld competition and have been part of several selection events where both candidates have prevailed above the others.

Now it’s up to you!

As the Training Manager for WorldSkills and sponsor for the SkillWeld competition, funding competitions and training events is always difficult, with us sometimes relying on donations, sponsorship and commitment from members being key to the success of each year’s competitions both National and International.

Are you young, ambitious and want to put your skills to the test? Then don’t forget to register for this year’s WorldSkills competition! Registration is currently open and closes at the beginning of April. Head to www.worldskillsuk.org/competitions/welding to register for this year’s welding competition and to find out more about what’s involved.
