Biogas as fuel for construction

BUSE develops special containers

With the development of containers, BUSE Gas Netherlands B.V. are proudly contributing towards the project “De Duurzame Brandstofketen” (Sustainable Fuel Chain): a pilot to test the use of biogas on (varying) construction sites. This reduces emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter at both the sewage treatment plant and the construction site. This pilot is made possible in part by a contribution from the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union.

Supplying local sustainable fuel together
The Waterschap Vallei en Veluwe (Province Gelderland), together with Gashouders, are in the process of building a filling station for biogas supply to projects for construction company GMB in the region. BUSE Gas Netherlands B.V. are responsible for the development of containers for biogas storage and Koninklijke van Twist are supplying the gas engine for a hybrid generator for locally produced biogas. The HAN (Hogeschool Arnhem en Nijmegen) are conducting research into the environmental impact of the Sustainable Fuel Chain.

Innovation
Various innovation opportunities arise through complete cooperation across the entire chain. The most important technical innovation that is applied is that biogas is stored without upgrading and used in an aggregate. This result is a significant efficiency improvement and cost reduction in the Sustainable Fuel Chain. The pilot will run until the end of 2022.

OP Oost 2014-2020
In the Operational Program (OP) East, Gelderland and Overijssel are working together with the European Union on structural strengthening of the economy in East Netherlands. Innovative SMEs that reuse smartly receive support from the European Fund for Regional Development of the European Union. “De Duurzame Brandstofketen” (Sustainable Fuel Chain) ensures a reduction of CO2 through smart reuse and is in receipt of a subsidy of 402.300 euro. The total costs will be 864.284 euro.
